Me & Tinks did law & we had this very same discussion involving Jamie Bulger case & the discussion came up about being over protective as was result for parents after [turned into a riot actually hehehehehe

] but the implications of over protectiveness was far more worrying basing that protection on a could happen, as it inhibits growth in independance & the outside world, something they need to learn & adapt to for growing up - obviously going the other way & letting your kids out doing anything & not caring where that child is etc is the opposite effect.
Like Grego it should be a bit of both
