Yuk.....I can't stand kippers...the smell makes me want to do a big technicolour spit. I once went on hols with hubby and he ordered kippers for breakfast.......I had to ask the waiter to move me to another table on the far side of the dining room...the sight and the smell of them made me heave.
Finnan Haddock is only slightly better....in that it doesn't have its eyes on you.
