Re: Stanley steward today
even a lot of non football fans can't fail to feel the buzz and excitement of being part of large or loud following of fans.
Anfield is perhaps one of the biggest examples but there is absolutely nothing like the spectacle of 40000 people singing You'll never walk alone and giving it everything they have, with their chests pumped up and their fists defiantly punching the air at the end of every sentence. Goose bump tackle.
For me it is like that when 10 of us manage to outsing the home support when we go away. Many a time I can remember little of the match itself as I want to sing and chant throughout and try my best to inspire the lads to victory. Its about I come from 'Accrington and this is what we have'. Maybe its tribal, maybe its tragic, god knows what it is. The football is the fulcrum and gives leverage to whatever we do on the terraces. And no, that never ever involves aggro before any of you dare to suggest it.
"I am from Accrington, you are from Barrow, Frickley, Barcelona or Rio bloody Janeiro, I dont care. I am louder and prouder and these boys in Red are what inspire me."
etc
You tell I am wrong and you are a fool. We all watch football for whatever reason, that is mine and that is why I dont watch Burnley or Rovers. Because I couldn't feel that way about any other town.
