I have never tried engine degreaser on cooking type oil/fat. Does it work well or are you better with fairy lipsquid?

I have used hot tap water and lots of fairy to clean diesel spills from my engine after changing diesel pipes etc, that made the whole engine nice and clean. I just poured on the very strong fairy and hot water mix, left it a few minutes then threw a bucket of cold water over the engine.
