Actually its Internet Protocol but I'll not split hairs
In todays terms with so many people on routers its actually the IP address that your ISP Intrenet service provider assigns to your router when you connect(Each individual PC within your home network is normally assigend a class C network addresss starting 192.168.*.*. It allows the ISP to route any response packets back to the originating IP address. Your PC actually asks your router to get some data and the router repeats the request out into the big bad world.
