It depends Gayle, if it's a new band then yes I'd want to see the 'real' people not a tribute, but you'll find many tribute bands that play the music of bands that have been going quite a long while will play the older stuff, where as the 'real band' are usually touring to promote new material they've just released .... pause for breath
