I have a friend at work who is a gay man.They won't let him give blood either due to risk of HIV but he has had a HIV test and this came back negative.I think that whether you are straight or gay if you have had a negative HIV test you should be able to give blood.After all anyone could be HIV positive,you don't need to be gay.I think it's very insulting that gay men are not allowed to give blood.He also offered to give bone marrow to the Antony Nolan trust and they didn't want that either!!
