But why should 'the Asian community' be a separate entity from 'the Springhill community' or 'the Hyndburn community' ? Whenever the words 'The Community' are used nowadays it never means the whole community, it just means the Asians within that larger community and I find that sadly to be divisive. We all live in Hyndburn so why this 'them and us' distinction? Both candidates for Central Ward (where I live) are Asian, but do they not represent me as I am not Asian? Do they only represent 'the community'? A friend of mine (white woman) moved into a house on Higher Antley Street and has been told by a neighbour that she should not have moved into an Asian area! I was under the impression that we didn't have exclusive ghettos in Accy.
