Fawlty Towers had nothing on this
Following on from another thread I decided on this one. I have been on many Uk coach trips in the past 5 years and found some that would make Fawlty Towers look like Buck House.
1 - Trouville , Sandown Isle of Wight - where there was 3" of fluff on skirting boards and my fingers stuck to the yuck which accumulated under the washbasin rim and to add to that it was haunted -how would you cope with some in heavy invisible entity sharing your double bed? The pillows were so full of dead dust mites they resembled cement bags.
2 - Grand Hotel Scarborough where I was in 3 different rooms in 4 nights. The first was so tiny and dirty I refused to unpack. The 2nd was more acceptable but for the fact that after 1 night I returned in the afternoon to find that all my belongings had been shifted to one end of the room because they had ripped up half the floorboards to investigate a plumbing leak. The 3rd room was one of their 'superior' type (wouldnt accept anything less after all that hassle) BUT, it had been partitioned off from an even larger 'superior' room and the wall was so thin that the snoring from next door kept me awake.
3 - Merrion Llandudno- a very poky single room with an ensuite which stank of urine (carpets in bathrooms should be banned on health grounds)
I put up with it by telling the cleaning staff I wanted the the extractor fan on 24/7 - put up with it because the food was extremely lushously wonderful.
I will probably recall more- can think of one in Eastbourne but cant remember the hotel name - will add it here when this mental (defensive) block of all things unpleasant has lifted
