I don't believe that we should ever take the law into our own hands. I believe that we should work with the law and that if the law isn't working then we should seek to reform the law.

Please don't twist my words Brian - I never said that we should beg the courts to do nothing. We need to be able to distinguish between justice and revenge.

Purge evil from our midst? Certainly - but I think we've got another case here of reading the same words and seeing a different meaning. Remember when I said I read about Jesus praying to his Father and saying "Thy will be done" how to me that distinctly shows the existence of two people and yet to you it doesn't? Well, to me purging evil from our midst means an individual responsibility to teach those amongst us to purge evil from ourselves so that we have 'no more desire to do evil but to do good continually'.

One of our church's articles of faith states:

"We believe in being subject to Kings, Presidents, rulers and magistrates; in obeying, honouring and sustaining the law." I would rather live in a society which followed that line than one which was run by vigilantes.
