I have an ordinary Sky box and dish but dont pay for any (extra)programmes. My Tv has built in freeview. I need the freeview back up because when it rains heavily my Sky reception goes kaput.
I paid for my own dish to be erected when I moved here but was limited as to where I can put it (flats), and the ordinary ariel is communal and gives a very poor signal strength. I tried an arial booster but it didnt improve matters. I used to pay extra for Sky channels at my previous address but I wont do that here because the Sky signal is unreliable.
I could link up to cable but dont want any extra expense - I am content with the channels I get - perhaps miss the Discovery channel a bit -but not worth the extra I would have to pay to get it.
I rarely miss a programme I want to see because I live alone - I gave away my video recorder. So I put up with the ads with the help of the mute.

Sky + is free if you subscibe to certain other channels (don't know details as I have full service) Margart. I think Sky going of when it rains hard applies to every body, I know it does to me as I usully goes of in the middle of a good film or a footy match, especially in the last few weeks, but you just have to grin and get on with it
