Read this on teletext, what i want to know is why has the goverment not applied for it. It is so annoying:

EU cash ready to help victims

Millions in aid for flood damage could be available from Brussels - but the Government has not yet put in a bid for help, the European Commission said.

Any EU nation hit by "major natural disaster" causing damage exceeding £2bn can apply within 10 weeks of the crisis for cash relief from a £700m EU fund.

The fund was set up in 2002 and it supported eight disasters in seven EU countries in its first 15 months.
