You're actually NOT a miserable sod! Well, not all the time!
I think it's all down to how things sound when you say them and how they sound when you write them (and by 'you' I mean anyone and everyone not you specifically).
Some people join and 'get it', others join and think that people are saying things that they're not because they're interpreting things as insults that are flippant comments.
