Could be one of a a number of problems.

Firstly JT's advice is worth taking although I prefer Opera over all others Firefox is a lot better than IE

If you really must then what version of IE?

Has it done any updates recently?

Have you done a full up to date Virus check?

Any particular websites or all of them?

what else is running at teh time

What version of Windows, and legit or dodgy (This makes a difference to what security patches get installed, MS will let you have teh really serious ones but not the general updates)
