OK how about this one for more serious implications:

'After having brutally attacked several people in the house, Mr. Smith finally apprehended the burglar in the cellar.'

Now we assume that it was the burglar who had attacked people but the way it is written it literally means that Mr. Smith didn't care who he clobbered in his hamfisted attempts to nab this theif! The problems then arise when people give such statements to the press which are then printed and people read them as Mr. Smith having attacked people and they go on the rampage to get revenge against him.
