Yes that's true it is a feeder for the Locks at Bennington St Blacburn, each time a lock empties in excess of 90,000 gallons of water go out to sea eventually at Scarisbrick. This Summer traffic has been prety busy, It shuts in October so the 'res' will soon fill again, and the sluce will open again.
