We still have this 'puritan' thing in US telvision , like the uproar with the Janet Jackson thing a few years ago when she bared her breast , its ok to have 20 different cop/crime shows showing violence and dead bodies just so long as the good guys win in the last five minutes , but showing a nipple or a bare bum is a complete no no .
I agree about American remakes. The best example I can think of is Queer As Folk. We had 1 series then a 2 part special, because Russell T Davis who wrote it didn't want to push it. But the American version is into its 6th season now and its just got a bit silly.

The Little Britain one isn't a remake though its just Matt Lucas & David Walliams making a new series set in America that will be shown in America.
