I am not sure that I am genuingly giving excuses to myself, or just trying to justify/placate other people to shut them up, now it is so controversial.
I have found myself making verbal excuses to non-smokers. On the other hand, I have told them strongly that I am not prepared to make any excuses to them and what I do so 'sod off'!
