PC 3183 Mahmood is currently in the consultation stages of liaising with council members with a view to setting up a no-drinking zone in the Oswaldtwistle area.
PCSOs Gallacher and Johnson will be accompanying members of Harvey Street Youth and Community Centre on a community trip to Blackpool lights.
APPEALS FOR HELP
Overnight on 09 October 2007 a burglary in a dwelling took place on Aspen Fold, Oswaldtwistle, where the offenders stole the occupant’s vehicle. Please can persons remain vigilant and ensure that properties are always kept secure, and report any suspicious behaviour to the police on 0845 125 3545.
There has been a slight increase in auto crime over the last month. Again, we would request that any suspicious behaviour be reported to the police immediately.

PACT PRIORITIES
1) Meadoway – despite increased patrols and drive-bys during the month, this street is still a cause for concern. A targeting strategy has been put in place by the Community Beat team and Accrington response officers.
2) Anti-social behaviour in Church Kirk – there is a continued presence of groups of teenagers and this priority will be addressed utilising PCSO patrols.
3) West Accrington – problems with mini-moto misuse, especially around Empress Street and Countess Street. High visibility patrols are to continue at various times during tours of duty.
Drugs warrants have been executed in the area, and Junior PACT surgeries are being discussed with Moorhead Sports College.
PARTNERSHIP WORK
PCSO 7765 McCarroll is involved with the Bright Sparx campaign, assisting the Fire and Rescue Service to put out the correct messages to young people, through the school system, during October. All officers will be vigilant and take positive steps against anyone misusing fireworks.

Working with local housing associations and private landlords to warn or evict problem tenants.
Working with Hyndburn Borough Council completing a two-week neat street initiative in Higher Antley Street.

Any information in relation to problem tenants and anyone causing anti-social behaviour in the area.

We now have a new second venue for our PACT surgery. We are hoping to encourage more people from across the area to attend and pass on information or ideas. This is at Hyndbrook House on Dale Street, Accrington. This month we welcome PC 2899 Chris Emmett to the team. Chris takes up the CBM role vacated by Dave Pearson.

3) Reduce the amount of copper and lead which is being stolen from the Woodnook area.
4) Anti-social behaviour and drinking on the Coppice area and in Oak Hill Park.
5) Anti-social behaviour and problems with youths on Alice Street and top of Water Street.
PARTNERSHIP WORK
We are working alongside the Fire and Rescue Department carrying out a number of talks to primary schools in preparation for bonfire night.
Working alongside private landlords in the Woodnook area.
APPEALS FOR HELP
We urge residents to report the misuse of mini motos. We also appeal for help with illegal parking in and around the primary schools.

Working with local councillors on trying to get better signage on the approach to the primary school, including the siting of “Wig Wag” flashing lights.
Working alongside Hyndburn Homes on environmental issues on the Within Grove Estate.

Residents of flats on Brown Birks Road to be involved in the creation of a neighbourhood watch scheme.

We are currently working in partnership with Hollins Technology College. We are setting up a PACT Panel within the school and also a PACT surgery. This will give the children a voice, and also enables the police to assist them with any problems they may have.

Please continue to ring the police with any registration numbers of vehicles racing, driving at excess speeds, and causing a nuisance, particularly on Hollins Lane.

It has recently come to my attention that a company from Barnsley are operating in the Hyndburn area purporting to be undertaking damp proofing at various homes. They use strong arm tactics and scare residents into parting with money on the spot and to sign up for contracts there and then. Under no circumstances are they to be used: there are a number of legitimate damp proof operators in this area, all of whom offer friendly advice and will do a good thorough job. You do not need to buy from door-to-door pressure salesmen like this and it should be pointed out that signing for contracts without cooling off periods to change your mind is a criminal offence. I cannot name and shame this company at present for legal reasons; however the media will be notified.
