if the law fully applied are not be allowed onto LICENSED premissess while in UNIFORM after they have finished their shift (but members of the emergency services can enter in the course of their duties).
As far as I'm aware that is the law not sure how it can be applied to the ARMED FORCES as I have not looked into the Act in full.

I’m not doubting your word Ber999T but it seems crazy that a uniformed person cannot nip into an off licence on the way home to get a bottle of wine for the evening meal.
That law cannot be applied to the armed forces mainly because new entries in barracks are not allowed to wear civvies when they go outside the barracks for an evening out. Although they could wear civvies on leave. But then that may have changed.
I know that being in uniform, especially a sailor’s uniform, on leave at home was a sure fire way of getting a few free pints and the pick of the girls, unless your home happened to be in or close to Portsmouth, Plymouth or Chatham.
