To be quite honest, a large proportion of cases that I see in the papers or on TV seem to involve inadequate sentences.
I would also say, judging from the views expressed on this site and people I talk to, that the majority of the British public have lost faith in the justice system.
But that's just an old-school, unreconstructed, "hang 'em high" (to quote Steeljack's phrase) type talking!
