These cards are a good idea in principle but the kids shouldn't have to pay for them, that's just a way as Flashytart says of making extra money for no real reason.
I twice had the same experience as Flashy had when getting on a Blackburn bus with my thirteen year old, ok he's tall but no way does he look anywhere near 16. Difference was the first time it happened the driver happily took my word on his age & I paid half-fare, the second time I had to pay full for him so it's obviously something the driver can use his discretion on.
These cards are good if the kids are travelling alone but if they are with an adult who confirms their age or are in school uniform they shouldn't need them.
