I got away paying half until i was nearly 21 and then i just bought a bus pass. Then 9 months of that and i got a free bus pass as i was working for the bus company. They brought the id cards in because of people like me - paying half when they shouldnt have been. They dont need the birthdate on because they will have had proof of their birthdate when it was issued - and as kids can lose stuff pretty regular its a good idea not to have their birthdate or their address on.
