Thanks. Atarah was the first to respond to my original posting. She mentioned the Dobson surname at the time, bue I have not yet encountered any sources that independently confrim such a link. Perhaps down the road...

My Hindle ancestors immigrated to the US approximately 1866 (+/- years per birth locations of siblings with 1 in Accrington and the next in PA). Records are kind of loose, but I have a reference to C. Hindle and wife on the steamer "Java" leaving Liverpool and arriving in NY on March 8, 1866 with intention of emigrating from England to US. They would likely have been traveling with their several children. I assume from the fact that nobody under 20 is listed on that page that the ship's manifest did not list children/ This is my most compelling evidence, though I don't have confirmation documents from each side.

Let me know if you get a strong lead on a tie between us.
