A (Christian) friend of mine worked for several years as a teacher in Sudan, she, unlike the lady in question, spent hours researching the customs and culture etc of this country before she went. She became very fond of the people she taught and worked alongside, and never had any problems at all with the religious side of things.
Maybe if the lady had taken the time and trouble to do the same, she would not have got into strife. Having said that, I do agree that the reaction of the Sudanese is extremely OTT.
