No the camera isn't crap, I just don't use camera phones, in the same way I hardly ever used my cybershot camera phone
Data rates make ANY phone expensive. On the normal contract you get unlimited data but I chose not to go for that one as I don't want to pay that amount, since when I did have unlimited data when I had a N95 for a week, I didn't use it anywhere near enough to balance out the cost.
MMS - Personally never use, if you do then iphones not for you!
I never record videos, or if I do they're worthless ones that i've deleted the next day.
The iphone has an accelerometer! Has lots of games that use it too :]
Oh and ringing volume, well I can't comment as I had my old phone on silent 24/7
