Not at our school. The teachers won't let the small children out of the door unless they can see who has come to collect them but they don't come out and speak to us. The bit where we have to wait is quite well back from the door so if you wanted a word you would have to make your way closer. As soon as they've spotted you they let your child out and then you just go, you don't get within speaking distance every day.
