A builder down the street said it can be done, but when he attempted to have the work done by another company, they said same as WarmFront. Any ideas ? Dunno if I’m being daft, but perhaps with it being a terraced house, would whatever “gunk” they filled the cavity with just end up trying to fill the whole block ???

I would say either that, or you have what is called a rubble infill, this is usually associated with stone inside and out though, and a rubble infill wall will normally be 12" + thick.
