Is it just one particular aspect he has problems with? Maybe the teacher hasn't explained it in such a way that it makes sense to him. I know what it feels like when you just can't seem to grasp something and then somebody else puts it a different way and all of a sudden it clicks, like somebody turning on a light switch. Good luck to him. Hope he gets the help he needs and a tutor who can get it across.
