Could start here jaysay and work your way through it.

I am not bothered what time my mail comes to be honest, only bills and useless information these days. We are our own worst enemy now in this with communications the way they are through the Internet and Text messages, etc.

Nevertheless, Birthday/Anniversary/Sympathy cards are personally important to us and impertive that they do arrive on time. I bet the Royal Mail has made a fortune this Christmas out of the larger than specified size envelope laid down .. lots of people I know have been caught on the hop, and have had to go and collect from their local sorting office to pay the extra £ 1+ including the price of petrol/bus fare maybe.

I was caught out sending a birthday card (including a voucher .. credit card type) in my daughter's card. Sent 1st class to Yorkshire on the 2nd Jan. as birthday was on 3rd. Did look at the card carefully and was not oversize. Didn't think too thick, and have no scales to check that the weight was below 100 g.

Was a little worried because she had not rung to thank me for pressie.
On the 5th January card was posted through her door re. excess postage .. did state 'card' on the type of letter. It could only be mine. Due to work she is not able to get to the sorting office during the day, so paid penalty on the Internet. Came on the 9th. The only thing I was angry about was the fact that she did not get any notification until the 5th and was posted 1st Class .. she thought I had forgotten her.

Perhaps card manufacturers may begin my selling with a warning that this card is oversize for standard 1st class post.

Check your Valentine's card folks or your sweetheart may finish up paying the excess and don't think would do your relationship any favours..
