Re: Post Deliveries

Postmen and women work a lot harder than a lot of people realise, I bet that half of the moaners on here are snuggled up in a warm bed when the posties have been at work a few hours. They have to sort there mail, prepare it for delivery, then get to the start of the round. Posties arent allowed out of the office untill 10 ish these days, it used to be a lot earlier, but the voices from above changed that. If they are lucky the weather isnt to bad, oh sorry it rains most days. The bags are heavy and bulky and dispite what people think a postie usually has about 8 to 10 bags of mail, not just the one people see them with. A first class stamp does not mean next day delivery, and people have never been given a set time for there own individual mail to be delivered. Posties have had to go with the changes in the work place, ie start times, finish times. The fliers people get ie hillarys blinds, vision, have to be delivered my the post, this is not paid as overtime. If anyone thinks they can help improve the sevice perhaps they should apply for a job in royal mail. As long as you are fairly fit, can get up early and work in ALL weather conditions you shouldnt have a problem. The posties have my full support, and unless you have done the job and know exactly what it entails think yourselves lucky we have a postal system.
