Re: Directory enquires free again
I like Margaret's idea about no Telephone Directories (unless you want one) and getting a discount. But BT would then think up a scheme to recoup the rebate they gave you.
I am with BT for line rental, but make my calls with my ISP, which is Virgin. I got my onlin bill yesterday and found I am now paying for 1571. Apparently this has been in place since May 2007, if you are not amking calls via BT network. It is still free if you make 2 chargeable calls oer month or 6 per quarter. I got them to refund this month's charge and cancelled 1571, as I had never receoved any notification about this extra charge. I checked all my bills back to May, but in previous months I had made some calls (by prefixing 1280 to the number) so this was the first month I had been charges. If I ever need to make any 0870/0871/0845 I use BT because they are cheaper than Virign. I must add I always try to find a geographic number on 'Saynoto0870' before ringing any nongeographic number.
As my free phone call tariff with Virgin is only for evenings and weekends, I make any calls during the day from my mobile, so they don't cost me anything. I get 300 any time (any network) minutes a month form Virgin Mobile for £10.00 and I never use them all up.
