I think the general feeling is that we are all too well aware of Britcliffe's unorthodox relationship with the truth, so much so that it scarcely merits comment anymore; a fact that does us little credit. But you are quite right that this inability to tell the truth or to admit that he made a mistake or an error of judgement does the borough no favours at all and should have us all demanding his resignation.
