Pointing out that someone STOLE someone else’s written work and passed it off as their own isn’t being cynical or cantankerous. Try looking up the definitions.

So if you were the author of that piece you would be happy for dozens of other people claiming credit for it?

People should be honest enough to at least state that what they are posting is not their own work and/or acknowledge the author.
