Listened to a discussion on Radio ... one caller had an appointment in hospital at Peterborough; her hubby came later to join her. On the way four Asians in a car headed straight for him on the pavement, narrowly missing him .. they did it purposely. He was wearing an RAF uniform and had been in the forces for 30 years ! That seems to be a deep seated hatred, not just frolics.
Another caller put a twist on it too which was interesting. Servicemen going out on the town and getting more than a little tiddly will only incite other revellers to have a go at them and could cause friction and maybe bring their uniform into disrespect.
It would be lovely to see a serviceman walking down the street again in uniform, and sure lots of us would give them a great big clap, slap on the back as they passed. Those days are gone I am afraid where we get the opportunity to thank them face to face.

Isn't this what is wrong with our country now, we let people come here willy nilly without a by your leave. I have a friend who has emigrated to the States, because her daughter lives there and is married to a yank, her daughter has just been granted Amerian citezen ship, otherwise my friend would not have been able to stay, you have to be sponored by a US citezen to live in the US of A, but any Tom Dick or Harry can come here no questions asked, get a pat on the head and given a sugar lump, nice to see you to see you nice this way the DHSS
