Mannix has disappointed me a touch because I had a very opinion of him, but that position is done best by somebody you don't notice in a game like Makelele. Viera and Keane did a similar job but were noticed more because they did it in a bone crunching manner. I think he will have more influence on the game when he learns the way the players a bit more. Until then he seems to be playing a little more cautiously than perhaps he needs to. But then again it may be no coincidence that since he came into the side we have conceded a lot fewer goals?
