actually mick, be careful as you might find that actually the users have too new a version of Java. If they get the latest from Sun it probably won't work. IIRC you need version 1.4.2 for teh chat room on here to work, Sun are currently sending 1.6.

Also one quirk is that good browsers such as Opera and firefox allow you to specify which version from all you have installed where IE only uses the system default one. This way you can run different software that have different java requirements

In Firefox/Opera, type "about:config" in the address bar and you can change all sorts of options - Remember with power comes responsibility!
