Damn right they were ... and the stadium was often filled to the rafters ... I remember one game, a cup match against Everton I think, where the fans were hanging off the floodlight pylons. I was standing by the tunnel in the enclosure (I was using my grandad's season ticket) and when the players were coming down the tunnel Adamson turned to one of the coppers and said "I wouln't have your job today for a bloody gold clock." (I think that was the game in which Dusty Miller scored with only a couple of seconds gone in the second half, while the Eveton goalie was still adjusting his jock strap.)
