It makes me giggle when they try and pronounce it or spell it because to me Oswaldtwistle is the norm, to the people around the country it's a weirdo name! haha
Does anyone else know of any weird named places around England?! (apart from the rude named towns that everyone knows about  )

Some place names just sound weird ... and Ossy is one of those places. I remember being in England at the time I was living in western Canada. People would ask; "Where in Canada are you from"? When I replied "Saskatoon, Saskatchewan" blank stares were followed by giggles.

Could have been Tuktoyaktuk, NWT. Manyberries, Alta., Come-by-Chance, Nfld. ... Moose Jaw, Medicine Hat ... the list goes on. One of my favs has always been "Glossup."
