I'm proud to come from Ossy, though my Italian best friend, Milly, can still only pronounce it as Oliver Twist.

I struggled when I lived in Scotland for a while. Bear's Den. Cambuslang, which can be sung as the Bay City Rollers 'Shang-a-lang', for anyone old enough. Kirkcudbright, pronounced Care-coo-bree.

It's almost like a foreign country up there.
