Not at all. Top of main-scale for classroom teachers is around £29000, any additional pay is, to all intents and purposes, performance related pay. PSP (Professional Standards Payments) are not guaranteed, but depends on whether you can jump through all the hoops and meet the performance targets.

The holidays are the only perk to teaching today. However, when you factor in all the evenings and weekends that teachers also work, 60+ hour weeks are not unusual and therefore even themselves out. When a teacher is 'on holiday', very often they will spend a significant period of that time working.
