The irishman in the flat below me - (The one who bought an indoor tv ariel to put in his loft), had a surreal conversation with me yesterday.

He has no telephone or cable connection in his flat, but bought a PC (£160) and a gadget to use with it 'which connects to the internet by using radio waves'.(£69)

He said that the first gadget didn't work so he returned it and got a refund. He bought another elsewhere which didn't work either - so he has got a refund on that too, and has also returned the PC to the seller.

I am not techie but am I right in thinking that he was attempting to piggyback my wireless connection, or is there some new gadget which removes need for a cable or telephone connection?

He said that he paid £10 upfront for one month's connection and hopes to get that refunded too.
