The last two seasons may have been disappointing in terms of results and gates, but, as far as I'm concerned, there is absolutely nothing to compare to it. It's the thing I've been dreaming about (literally) for the last 35 years. I don't go to football to exchange pleasantries with "nice" crowd members or examine "interesting" grounds and if we want more wins, why not just move down to the Northwest Counties League?...we could have lots of victories there. No, to be a member of the oldest and best-known national league in the world is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. And, yes, I know this makes me a very sad man, but sometimes, when I'm sitting in the pub, watching Skysports News and that second division table comes up with the name "Accrington Stanley" in it, I can't help having a little smile to myself, as I think, "What, me worry?...I'm a football league fan!"
