No sympathy for them as in the programme it was revealed that they had left the children the night before. Otherwise why would Maddie be asking why they didn't come when she and her brother were crying the night before? We've been in the same situation, either the children come with us, or we take it in turns stay in to eat. I could not have left them out of earshot, just to make sure they weren't crying or frightened.

They did admit they were wrong to do so, and will have to live with that guilt. It still doesn't mean I can't feel sympathy towards their plight though.
