Obviously as a man, I wouldn't, but both my daughter-in law and my daughter have been breast feeding, sometimes no matter what, the need of the child surpasses the disgruntled comments of the narrow minded.
Done in a careful manner even the people with you can hardly notice what's going on, but if someone does object it says more about who and what they are than a mother doing what is after all a natural function.
So long as it's without fuss and 'look at me', it should never be a problem for normal, bystanding adults nor' should it be something hidden from children, the more mothers that breast feed in public the better chance for a normal civilised? society.
It is after all, what they are there for! (Though I do enjoy the secondary use they can be put to!).
