Re: hair-dye

My son, who is in his 40s, plays guitar in a couple of bands. Like me he has premature greyness so, a few years ago, he used to dye his hair dark brown so as not to look like an elderly rocker on stage. Eventually he decided to dye it black with a DIY colourant. Withing a few hours his head and face had swelled like a balloon and he was in a lot of pain. His wife had to call the doctor who put him on an antibiotic and it took a week for the swelling to subside. Meanwhile, he looked a lot like Oliver Hardy.

Hair dye can be brilliant for giving you a confidence boost but things can go wrong. I dyed mine until I was 60 (I went grey at 30) but then I stopped and I actually love my grey hair now. Would never have been able to sue a salon if I'd had a disaster though, I always did it myself.

P.S. My son now has salt-and-pepper grey/brown hair, as Nature intended.
