Oh I wish i had thought to post that.....we have been doing this for yonks.
Another tip in this time of economies is...when cooking potatoes, or any other veg......bring to the boil and then leave the lidded pan closed and let the food cook in its own heat.....use a steamer(two or even three lots of veg can then be cooked on one gas/electric ring)
