Re: Hello from sunny Florida

Hi Pussycat & Mez and thank you for the welcome,

I live in St. Augustine North Florida about 20 miles south of Jacksonville. Jacksonville is the largest city in the USA (landmass) and St. Augustine is the oldest city in the USA. It is very quaint with a very European theme, mainly Spanish. I believe it was first occupied by the Minorcans. It is not quite so hot here as in mid and south Florida and also not quite so humid. The best time of the year is generally Spring from March to the end of April. Temperatures then range from about 75 to 85 degrees F., dropping at night to the mid fifties or so. In the summer, most days are around 90 degrees. The winter varies greatly with temps. sometimes in the seventies and sometimes in the forties. We do get the odd frosty night in the winter when it can drop as low as 20 to 25 degrees.

I really love living here in the USA although I do miss England in many ways. The Hollands meat pies spring to mind. We can't buy savoury pies over here, strange eh? However, the American people are very generous and friendly and their way of life appeals to me. The standard of living is also very high.
