I see nothing wrong with a thread politely pointing out the error of our ways.
As for the job the mods do - on a forum as busy as this one they can't possibly read all the posts so if you find something offensive please do report it. I'm sure they will be grateful to you and not think you are snitching at all. They need our help with things like this. If I see a post which I think should be reported I do.
