My mum doesn't like public transport because she gets claustrophobic, so we have walked home from accy to ossy for years without fail, not got the bus to town once, and sometimes we walk back too if we don't have too much shopping, otherwise we get a taxi.

I definitely think it is lazy to not walk up that hill. If my 3 yr old brother can walk half the distance of our journey (before finally giving in and getting in his pram without getting tired, he isn't superman), I'm sure an equally healthy toddler can get up that hill no problem.
